FLORAL BLOUSE

Top: H&M (Similar here) | Jeans: M&S | Shoes: Topshop | Faux fur coat: Choies
---------------------------------

With my ongoing job hunt forever on my mind, I decided to hit the shops the other day, to hunt for some affordable and work-appropriate pieces. First stop: H&M - they absolutely never fail in this department. I managed to find this pretty wraparound floral blouse for under £15, and the best thing is that not only is it super chic and pretty for a work outfit, but it's not too much so that it can't be worn outside of the office. Here I paired it with my trusty high-waisted jeans, and suede boots, adding my fur jacket for a cool colour/print contrast (and to combat the English chill).

WEATHER, WHY?

Jumper: H&M | Jeans: Levis via Motel Rocks (Vintage) | Shoes: Vans | Nails: Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in 'Plum'
----------------------------------------------

I'm just not feelin' this weather right now; I've had enough of jumpers and jeans! I'm so looking forward to going back home in a couple of weeks time for some well-earned beach and tanning time, and hopefully my blog posts will feature some actual summery looks!

But anyway, for now, I'm just trying to make the most of my current situation, so I decided to whip out my mom jeans, which I hadn't worn for a good while, and paired them with a brown jumper and purple Vans! It's a quick and simple outfit, but I really love the pretty detailing on the jumper, and the contrast between all the colours! Here's hoping for some warmth and sunshine soooon!

BRITPOP // EDITORIAL ASSIGNMENT

As a few of you may know, I've finally completed my course at the London College of Style, where I undertook an e-learning programme in 'Fashion and Personal Styling'. I'm officially unemployed and on the job hunt - yikes! My last module on the course consisted of several assignments; one in which I was asked to style two different editorial shots, inspired by the Britpop movement. As an aspiring stylist (particularly in editorial), this was one of my favourite assignments to date, so I thought I'd share my work on here.

For those of you who may not know what Britpop is, it's fairly simple. It was a post-grunge movement that came about in the 90's with the rise of bands such as Oasis and Blur. Fashion-wise, this era took many influences from the 60's and 70's, but of course, was also very much cemented within its present-day 90's styles and fashions. So just think - chokers, denim, fur, boho prints, etc. etc. The images below are my personal take on the Britpop movement, merged with current trends, my own personal style, and an editorial vibe! Enjoy x

WHITE FLORAL

Tee: Topshop | Shorts: Topshop | Jacket: Mango | Sandals: Zara | Bag: Gifted
----------------------------------------

The all-white trend has been around for a little while now, and it doesn't look like it's going anywhere any time soon. So when I spotted this cropped white tee in Topshop recently, I thought it would make a great addition to my wardrobe. The floral detailing and scalloped edge adds a little something extra to an otherwise plain t-shirt, and I think it would look sooo great with some white high-waisted distressed jeans and some white trainers, for a cool and effortless vibe.

For this outfit, though, I decided to go for something a little different, and paired the tee with my salmon shorts, beaded sandals, and finally, my leather jacket. which I felt toughened up the look nicely. I went pretty minimal on the accessories front with a plain gold chain, and my gold watch.

ORANGE BODYCON

Dress: Missguided | Shirt: Abercrombie & Fitch | Sandals: Zara | Bag: H&M | Necklace: Bijou Brigitte
------------------------------------

The sun finally graced us with its presence this past weekend - hallelujah! I thought it was the right time to whip out this cute orange bodycon dress from Missguided, although I decided to wear my Abercrombie shirt over it in anticipation of a very typically-English weather change - plus, I also really love the contrast in the colour palette and aesthetic. I topped it all off with my beaded sandals, fringed bag (what's new?) and statement necklace, which I felt was an effective accessory to the plain dress. I'll be experimenting with other ways to style this piece in the next few weeks; it's such a great  - and inexpensive - staple piece upon which a gorgeous outfit can be built upon!
